Athletics: Ethiopia's five-times double world cross country champion Kenenisa Bekele dropped out of the senior men's race in Kenya today.
Eritrea's Zersenay Tadesse, won the men's 12km, which was run in intense heat, after favourite Bekele dropped out in Mobasa with a lap to go.
Lornah Kiplagat of the Netherlands won women's eight km race in the Kenyan Indian Ocean port city. Fionnuala Britton, Ireland's sole representative in the event, coped well with the extreme conditions, finishing in 14th on her debut.
Kenyans swept the medals in the junior men's and women's races.
