Ireland's November 2002 exports to non-EU countries fell to €2,575 million when compared with the October 2002 figure of €2,708 million.
Imports increased marginally to €1,444 million from €1,432 million in the same period, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office today.
The seasonally unadjusted exports were valued at €2,652 million in November 2002, 5 per cent lower than the €2,790 million in November €2001. Imports were valued at €1,536 million, 6 per cent lower than the €1,641 million recorded in November 2001.
In terms of individual countries, exports to Japan dropped from €2,982 million to €2,443 million (-18 per cent) and exports to the Philippines decreased from €740 million to €334 million (-55 per cent).
Exports to the United States increased from €14,810 million to €15,396 million (+4 per cent), and exports to Switzerland increased from €2,583 million to €3,019m (+17 per cent).
Imports fell from €18,827 million to €17,489 million (-7 per cent). Imports of computer equipment decreased from €4,856 million to €4,123 million (-15 per cent), while telecommunications and sound equipment decreased from €1,450 million to €860 million (-41 per cent).
Imports of transport equipment (other than road vehicles) increased from €640 million to €1,358 million (+112 per cent) and imports of organic chemicals rose from €776 million to €1,333 million (+72 per cent).
