A Sydney couple woke at 2am local time (5pm Sunday, Irish time) to find a naked Irish man in their bed.

The couple, a man and a woman who were not identified, were woken in their home in the eastern suburb of Maroubra by the Irish national, who was not known to them.

“That’s kind of the scary part, how long he might have [been] looking at us thinking it’s a good idea to get into bed with these guys,” the woman said. She said the man (25) had gotten under the bedcovers.

“[My partner] is on one side, I’m in the middle and then our stranger on the end right in with us,” she said. “So just the sense of someone next to me who shouldn’t be there ... It was terrifying.”

After being asked to leave the Irish man picked up his clothes and walked into the backyard where the couple tried to keep him until the police arrived.

But the man got back into the house through a window and walked around. The man then began convulsing and an ambulance was called.

Neighbours who saw the emergency services arrive said the Irish man was still naked at that point. They say he was moved from a police vehicle into the ambulance.

The man is undergoing medical checks at the nearby Prince of Wales hospital for possible drug-related issues and will be interviewed by police over aggravated break and enter charges.
