Five people were injured when part of a residential building in Vienna collapsed after a reported explosion in the area, Austrian police said.

Rescuers are searching for more people in the three-story building, with two of the injured being treated in the hospital for minor injuries, a police spokeswoman said.

Search and rescue dogs are being taken to the scene, she said.

Police have yet to establish the cause of the explosion, which affected the top two floors of the building.

Austrian broadcaster ORF published pictures on its website showing the affected area and said the building partially caved in following an explosion this morning.
