At least three people have been killed and several others badly injured in a huge landslide in the north-western American state of Washington.
The landslide destroyed six houses and covered a road near the rural town of Oso, about 90km north of Seattle.
Reports suggest the landslide deposited material at least 41m wide and 54m deep.
It is understood two people were killed at the scene and one died later in hospital. A baby boy aged 6 months is among the injured.
Additional search-and-rescue units have been called in from, including the Washington State Patrol and the Army Corps of Engineers.
Local media reported that the landslide cut off the city of Darrington and has clogged the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River.
Authorities are advising some people to move to higher ground.
