The World Trade Organization (WTO) agreed today to open talks with Libya on its possible future accession.
The decision, taken by the 147-member WTO's executive General Council, marks a new step in Tripoli's drive to normalise its international relations.
"They have agreed to set up a working party," said one official emerging from the Council session. Establishing a working party is the first step on the road to entry for any country seeking to join the body.
