Sir, – With the recent changes in Garda uniforms, perhaps it is time to rethink children’s school uniforms. If it is acceptable for gardaí not to wear shirt and tie, why is it so important for children to wear ties? Surely a polo shirt would be more comfortable, neater, and easier to maintain. Some secondary school pupils wear the tie hanging down and with the shirt hanging out. A uniform? I think it is time to consider children’s school clothing. – Yours, etc,
BETTY RAFTER,
Thurles,
Co Tipperary.
