Expenses query

A chara, – WG Condon writes that is a pity someone does not release information to the media on TDs’, Senators’ and MEPs’ expenses (May 26th). He is correct but there is a simple reason. Publication of information is being deliberately prevented by the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael parties. For example, in the European Parliament Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael members voted against the publication of the Galvin report which exposed the systematic abuse of parliamentary allowances and expenses in the European Parliament.

Only recently it was reported that nine of our 15 MEPs still refuse to publish their exact expenses, while five MEPs have members of their family on staff. – Is mise,
