Madam, - Would Paris have lost some charm as residence for an Irish Times correspondent? Or would the sentencing of French singer Bertrand Cantat to 8 years in jail attract a greater readership than any political issue?
I would have thought that "a dramatic mid-term referendum on France's. . .government" (Editorial comment March 30th) might have been of interest to the citizens of the country holding the European presidency. As a French national, I find it very disappointing that no substantial coverage of the event appeared in your quality paper either on the first or on the second day following Sunday's results. - Yours, etc.
