Sir, – George Hook has brought down a storm of criticism upon himself from media and public alike – and rightly so ("Hotel group cancels Newstalk sponsorship over Hook rape comments", September 10th).
He has opinions, and we may not always agree with them, but I for one don’t want a media so homogenised that personal opinion is outlawed. One does not have to agree with George Hook, and it seems his programme sponsor certainly does not, after it pulled its support.
But whatever happened to free speech?
Have an opinion, but just make sure it’s the same as everyone else’s. – Yours, etc,
