Horseracing beyond the glitz

Sir, – Jennifer White (Letters, March 17th) wonders when will horseracing be banned due to the deaths of horses when racing. Their present death toll would pale into insignificance compared to the lines of horse lorries outside knackeries if they could not race to earn their keep. That or they could be exported to other less caring countries where human, let alone animal, welfare falls far below what we would consider adequate. – Yours, etc,

JOHN ROGERS
