Madam, - I would like to add the collective voice of Conradh Draoithe na hÉireann (the Convocation of Druids in Ireland) to those protesting about the proposed M3 motorway from Clonlee to Kells.
The Hill of Tara is one of our most loved cultural and spiritual sites and would undoubtedly suffer irreparable damage should the motorway be built along the proposed route.
While we support responsible progress and the betterment of life for all beings, development and progress must take account of the impact that any action may have now and in the future upon the land and the people of Ireland.
We find it encouraging that so many are prepared to speak out and call for the protection of our heritage, which we hold in trust for our children and our children's children, before it is eroded for all time by short-sighted planning strategy.
As speaker for this organisation I would direct your attention to our website www.irishdruids.org where you can read our position statement, which has attracted many signatories from around the world and has been sent to the Taoiseach and many others as we call for the protection of Tara. - Yours, etc.,
LUCIE EVA,
Speaker, Conradh
Draoithe na hÉireann,
