Madam, - There has been publicity recently about the plight of some of those we call emigrants to England in the 1950s and to America in the 19th century. If we could now re-classify these as refugees, or more accurately as economic asylum-seekers, it might persuade our current authorities to be more considerate towards those similar misfortunates who are now arriving here.
