Sir, – Why did the European Commission competition directorate find it necessary to raid insurance industry offices in Ireland?
We are continually reminded, in every advertisement and document issued by the insurance companies, that all of our financial institutions are regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. Is the Central Bank not authorised to pursue allegations of an insurance industry cartel acting against the interests of the consumer, or did it just choose to ignore them? – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL ANDERSON,
Balgriffin, Dublin 13.
