Sir, – A letter writer wonders (Letters, November 4th) who will be held responsible “in the likely event of someone having a serious fall,” – presumably as opposed to a humorous fall, – “due to slipping on so many unswept wet leaves on so many pavements”.
Surely, the answer lies in the question itself.
If the event is likely, in this case slipping on an obviously slippy surface, the responsibility lies with the individual who is traversing the natural “hazard” to proceed with appropriate care and caution just as one would in icy or snowy conditions.
In the unlikely event that the question posed is related to forward planning, I think that even Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel would not be minded to take on the case!
