Madam, - On a recent holiday in Wales, I was amazed at the widespread use of the Welsh language and the pride in it, especially in Caernarfon - seat of the Prince of Wales - where Welsh is spoken daily by over 90 per cent of the people. It was such a joy to listen to young children, teenagers, shop assistants and their customers converse in their native language.
I can never imagine a similar chorus of outrage about Welsh in their media as we have about Irish in ours. In fact I doubt if there is any other race on earth with a death wish for their native language - one of the oldest and most expressive in the world. - Yours, etc.,
