Madam, - The connection between the Hunt Museum in Limerick and the Gráinne Uaile Sub Aqua Club in Co Mayo, both of which featured in Tuesday's edition, may not be immediately obvious. Each of these organisations, however, relies and thrives on the commitment of volunteers. In addition, Aidan Forde drew attention in the Letters page to the work of mountain rescue volunteers.
Though unrelated, the three pieces hinted at the diversity in volunteering opportunities, while clearly highlighting the dedication of individual volunteers.
While it is impossible to put a price on the value of volunteering, it is important that due regard is given to its achievements and Tuesday's Irish Timesmay be commended for doing so. - Yours, etc,
