Sir, – I recently abandoned my long-term hair salon. As I was having my hair rinsed by a junior stylist, she proudly claimed to be anti-vaccine. As a recent breast cancer survivor, and medically vulnerable, I was horrified. Later that day, I texted my anger and concern.
I think the Government has got it all wrong about vaccinated versus unvaccinated. If we have to show our vaccine certificates to enter a restaurant, surely providers of personal care, like hairdressers and beauticians, must do likewise.
International medical experts state clearly that an unvaccinated person is 10 times more susceptible to contracting Covid-19 than a fully-vaccinated person. Therefore, vulnerable people must be protected from close contact with unvaccinated persons.
This applies to the workplace and to all indoor gatherings also. The only way for us to protect ourselves is to know who is safe for us to have close contact with. The Government needs to take urgent action on this matter. It has a moral obligation to do so. Covid-19 will be around for several years.
– Yours, etc
