Madam, - Michael Grant's letter of March 16th, concerning the music used in the Abbey Theatre's production of Julius Caesar, is most timely.
I attended the Abbey on Tuesday, March 13th, and was appalled at the use of Bach's St Matthew Passion throughout the evening.
The playing of the aria "Erbarme dich" (Have mercy, Lord) during the scene with Brutus and Caesar's ghost was particularly inappropriate and irrelevant. - Yours, etc,
