Louise O’Reilly has been re-elected to the Dáil for Sinn Féin in the new constituency of Fingal West.
With a strong background in the labour movement – she and her father were both trade union officials -- she was the party’s spokeswoman on workers’ rights, enterprise, trade, and employment.
She had previously been the Sinn Féin spokeswoman on health.
O’Reilly, who is 51, was successful in her first attempt to win a Dail seat in the election in 2016 for the former constituency of Dublin Fingal.
Before being elected as a TD in 2016, she was a full-time trade union organiser and served for many years as a member of the public services committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (Ictu).
O’Reilly is married with one daughter.
