Sinn Féin’s Paul Donnelly, who topped the Dublin West poll in the 2020 general election, has claimed a seat again in the constituency

The 56-year-old, who has worked in community development for a quarter of a century, is a project co-ordinator and community outreach worker with the child and family agency Tusla and coaches and mentors at St Peregrine’s GAA club.

In 2008, he was co-opted to Dublin Fingal County Council, originally for Mulhuddart, an electoral area that has since divided to include Ongar, the ward he represents.

He is the Sinn Féin spokesperson for community development and has been a TD for Dublin West since 2020.

He contested the 2011 general election and byelection following the death of former finance minister Brian Lenihan. He also contested the 2014 byelection and the 2016 general election.

Mr Donnelly and his wife Angela have four children and they have lived in Clonsilla for more than 24 years.
