Aughnacliffe Dolmen, one of four portal tombs in Co Longford, is a megalithic tomb set in a shallow valley among rolling hills. Unusual in that it has two capstones, it has a traditional connection with the ancient romantic legend of Diarmuid and Gráinne; it was a resting spot for the young lovers on flight from Gráinne’s fiance, Fionn MacCumhaill.
