England's Tommy Fleetwood won his first European Tour title after a play-off with Scotland's Stephen Gallacher and Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
Gallacher looked out of contention when he ran up a triple-bogey seven on the 11th in a rollercoaster final round, but bounced back with birdies at the 14th and 16th and then holed from 15ft for an eagle on the last.
That set the clubhouse target at 18 under par and Fleetwood matched it thanks to an eagle on the 16th and birdie on the last, with playing partner Gonzalez making birdies on the 16th and 18th after almost holing his bunker shot on the last for a winning eagle.
The players returned to the par-five 18th for the play-off and Gallacher was eliminated when he failed to get up and down from a greenside bunker, missing a birdie putt from seven feet.
Gonzalez then three-putted from just over the back of the green and that left Fleetwood to hole from three feet for a winning birdie and the first prize of €272,000.
Two bogeys in his last four holes ended Shane Lowry’s hopes after he had made it to 16 under with a second straight birdie on the 14th.
But bogeys on the 15th and short 17th put paid to his chances as he closed with a 69 to finish in share of 10th position on 14 under.
Michael Hoey's 68 in the final round saw him finish on 10 under, Peter Lawrie (71) and Simon Thornton (74) ended up on four under, with Paul McGinley (75) and Gareth Maybin (77) a shot further back.
