The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) have made the unprecedented move of employing five intercounty players in the promotion of the sports drink Club Energise, which the GPA endorse. The five players are part of a three-month pilot scheme, providing approximately 20 hours a week to work with the full-time promotional staff of Club Energise.

The five players are part of a three-month pilot scheme, providing approximately 20 hours a week to work with the full-time promotional staff of Club Energise.

The five players - Dublin footballer Bryan Cullen, Armagh dual player Paul McCormack, Galway hurler David Collins, Waterford footballer Jason Ryan and Cork footballer Brendan Jer O'Sullivan - will be known as brand ambassadors and will personally promote the product in GAA clubs, shops and licensed premises in their assigned regions.

The GAA continue to ban the marketing of the drink inside county grounds as it conflicts with their official sports drink, although GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell reiterated the GPA intention to have that ban removed as part of the negotiations with the association. He said he expected some movement in the coming weeks.
