Open Golf News: The European Seniors Tour moves to the Heritage Golf and Country Club at Killenard, County Laois, in 2005 with its staging of the AIB Irish Seniors Open. The privately-owned course, less than an hour from Dublin and co-designed by Jeff Howes and Seve Ballesteros, features a 7,345-yard championship track as well as a 125-bedroom luxury hotel. It is the legendary Spaniard's first venture into course design in Ireland.
"It is wonderful that my first course design in Ireland and the UK has been chosen to host such a major international tournament," said the winner of five majors. "Being a householder here I have no doubt that the quality of the field and spectators that the event attracts will enjoy not only the golf course but the total experience of the Heritage."
In 2004, the Seniors Open will be played from June 4th-6th, returning to Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort for a third successive year. In 2003 Noel Ratcliffe took the title with a five-under-par 211. The Heritage is close to Monasterevin, 40 miles from Dublin and features challenging doglegs and spectacular lakes and streams.
