Born in Leeds on October 26th, 1982, Caleb Folan is a 6ft 2in striker who started his career at Elland Road before moving on without having played a first-team game for his hometown club.
He joined Chesterfield in February 2003, and scored just seven goals in 80 appearances for the club up until the end of last season.
During the early part of this campaign, however, he found his scoring touch with eight league goals, overshadowed by the three he scored in the League Cup against the Manchester City, West Ham and Charlton.
Wigan paid £500,000 for him in January and he has scored twice in five appearances - against Watford and Manchester City.
Wigan manager Paul Jewell observed that, "he's strong, he's aggressive and he's got a finisher's instinct".
