Women's HockeyThe University of Limerick finally advanced to the second round of the Irish Senior Cup on Saturday when they beat Cookstown 3-2 in the replay of their disputed first-round tie.

Limerick, though, had to come from two goals down, with Julie Kilpatrick and Laura McCracken scoring early for the Ulster side - Ciara Howard got a goal back before half-time and Clare Mulcahy scored twice after the break to put Limerick through. They next play Galway at home on January 14th.

Railway Union completed the first half of their league campaign with a 4-0 win away to Clontarf, a win that moves them up to third place in the table, five points behind Pembroke Wanderers and Hermes, both of whom remain unbeaten.

Trinity moved four points clear of bottom club Clontarf by picking up their first win of the season, beating Corinthians 2-1 with goals from Louise Johnston.

In Ulster Pegasus, surprisingly, could only score once against Lisnagarvey, Suzanne Beaney getting the goal after five minutes, but it proved enough to take the points and maintain their lead over Ballymoney, who beat Victorians 4-0.

In Munster, Church of Ireland kept the pressure on champions Cork Harlequins, who didn't play at the weekend, by beating Ashton 3-0.
