Ireland will complete their three-game ODI series against the West Indies in Jamaica after the second fixture was rescheduled for Thursday at Sabina Park.

The final game moves from Friday to Sunday, meaning the one-off T20 international between the sides scheduled for that day has now been cancelled to avoid disrupting the West Indies’ travel plans and subsequent fixtures.

The second ODI, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed after a total of five Irish players, including captain Andrew Balbirnie, tested positive for Covid-19. The five players, along with interim head coach David Ripley who also tested positive, are isolating away from the rest of the squad in Kingston.

Cricket Ireland confirmed on Tuesday evening that Paul Stirling will return to the side as captain, leading his country for the first time in an ODI. The opening batter missed the first game of the series after he was forced to remain in isolation after contracting coronavirus in Florida during the first leg of the Ireland tour.

Ireland also had injury issues with all-rounder Andrew McBrine having suffered a mild concussion when hit on the helmet in the opening defeat to the West Indies, while pace bowler Mark Adair was nursing a sore foot.

The games will both start at 9.30am local time (2.30pm Irish time) and will be shown live on BT Sport.
