Born in Brighton, to a family of strong Dublin connections, English is a no stranger to success both on the road and on the track, his victory over Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy at the 2010 UEC European Track Championships first announcing his arrival. Won gold at the 2019 UCI Track World Cup in the men's scratch race in Glasgow, having previously taken gold at the 2017 UCI Track World Cup in the men's Madison in California.
