UCD have to find more space in their trophy cabinet after yet another success for the club this season, their seconds winning the Irish Junior Cup yesterday by beating Pembroke Wanderers II 3-1.

The sides were level at half-time, Pembroke's Anna O'Neill cancelling out Ciara Noble's opener for the students, but Holly Rankin and Maedhbh Delahunt got the goals after the break to seal the triumph.

On Saturday, Clonakilty Hockey Club, only founded in 2011, won the Irish Hockey Challenge by beating Botanic on penalty strokes after a 0-0 draw, while Church of Ireland eased to victory in the Irish Hockey Trophy with an 8-1 win over North Down, Amy Roberts getting a hat-trick.

Meanwhile, Ulster Elks booked themselves a place in next season’s Irish Hockey League with a penalty strokes victory over Catholic Institute in yesterday’s wildcard decider after the teams had drawn 1-1.
