Argetina outside back Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino is on the verge of joining Munster on a short-term deal after confirming the news to ESPN South America.

The former Leicester, Oyonnax, Montpellier and Cardiff Blues winger will arrive as a “medical joker”, for three to four months.

Amorosino did not feature in Argentina’s quarter-final win over Ireland but has played in four of the country’s six World Cup fixtures so far.

The 29-year-old has been capped 48 times for the Pumas and will provide back three cover for the province after the injury sustained by Felix Jones in Munster's win over Glasgow Warriors four weeks ago.

After winning their first four Pro12 matches, Anthony Foley’s side lost out to Scarlets on Friday last, thanks to a last-gasp Steve Shingler penalty.

A flanker will also be on the agenda for Foley in the coming weeks after Peter O’Mahony was ruled out for several months, while Tommy O’Donnell is out until the new year.
