Kevin De Bruyne a doubt for champions Man City; Aaron Connolly set for Brighton return

Liverpool are without Fabinho following the death of his father. Fellow midfielders Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara could both be in contention for their first appearances of the season following their exploits at Euro 2020.

Burnley will have an unchanged squad for the trip to Anfield. Midfielder Dale Stephens and defender Kevin Long both missed the opening-day defeat to Brighton and they will remain absent as they continue their recoveries following surgery.

Bertrand Traore is a fresh injury absentee for Aston Villa. The midfielder suffered a hamstring issue during the defeat at Watford and will not be back until after next month's international break.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has confirmed Joe Willock will be included in his squad after completing his permanent move to the club from Arsenal. But Jonjo Shelvey has been ruled out after sustaining a fresh calf injury in the opening day home defeat to West Ham.

Conor Gallagher is set to make his competitive debut for Crystal Palace. The Chelsea loanee was ineligible to face his parent club last weekend. James Tomkins is also available after recovering from a knock but Nathan Ferguson (Achilles), captain Luka Milivojevic (personal reasons), Michael Olise (back) and Ebere Eze (Achilles) remain absent.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns. Denmark midfielder Mathias Jensen has resumed training after recovering from a deep wound in his foot suffered during the Euro 2020 semi-final defeat by England, but is not yet in contention.

Kalvin Phillips could make his first appearance of the season for Leeds. Left back Junior Firpo, a €15.75 million summer signing from Barcelona, is aiming to make his full Premier League debut.

James Rodriguez will be absent again for Everton, but Moise Kean can be called upon. Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has joined on a deal until the end of the season.

Manchester City (13) v Norwich (19)
Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for Manchester City. The Belgium playmaker, who came off the bench in last Sunday's 1-0 loss at Tottenham, has been troubled by an ankle problem and did not train on Friday.

Norwich are expected to be without defender Christoph Zimmermann through illness. Young Irish centre back Andrew Omobamidele is back in full training again following tonsillitis, so could come into contention, along with winger Onel Hernandez, who has been building up fitness after an enforced lay-off because of Covid-19.

Republic of Ireland forward Aaron Connolly is back in contention for Brighton after missing last weekend's win at Burnley due to "personal reasons" but Danny Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey remain sidelined with hamstring problems and Joel Veltman will miss out due to self-isolation.

Josh King could be in line for his Watford debut after recovering from a minor groin injury. Kiko Femenia is also available after building up his fitness but midfielder Juraj Kucka is expected to miss out with a thigh injury.

The 28-year-old defender was not signed in time to play against Leeds last weekend but has impressed since arriving, while striker Edinson Cavani has also been training after returning from an extended summer break.

Tottenham will make a decision whether to include wantaway striker Harry Kane after Saturday’s training session as Nuno Espirito Santo returns to Molineux.

Christian Pulisic will miss out for Chelsea after testing positive for Covid-19. Midfielders Hakim Ziyech (shoulder) and N’Golo Kante (ankle) could return, while €115 million recruit Romelu Lukaku may make his second Chelsea debut.
