Ireland's first match after Euro 2016 will be a pre-World Cup qualifying campaign friendly against Oman at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday, August 31st.
The fixture will act as a warm-up game for the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign in which Martin O’Neill’s side play their first game away to Serbia on September 5th.
Ireland have met Oman twice before in friendly internationals - winning 4-1 in September 2012 and 2-0 in September 2014 - and this will be their second visit to the Aviva Stadium.
Managed by former Real Madrid boss Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, Oman are 99th on FIFA’s World Rankings and recently finished second in their qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup.
Tickets details will be announced in due course and will count as the first fixture in the 2016/17 FAI Season Ticket package.
