Jonathan Walters leads the contenders for the Senior Player of the Year prize at the Three sponsored FAI International awards on Sunday evening with the Stoke City striker, whose performances in Ireland's qualifying games repeatedly earned praise from Martin O'Neill shortlisted in that and the best goal category.
Robbie Brady makes both shortlists too with his strike against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fog listed while the Dubliner is also in the running for the Young Player award.
Wes Hoolahan completes the Senior Player shortlist while Shane Long's memorable strike against world champions Germany in October is the third goal on the list.
Louise Quinn of Eskilstuna United in Sweden, Glasgow City’s Denise O’Sullivan and Julie-Ann Russell of UCD Waves make the senior women’s list while Dundalk provide all three contenders for the Airtricity League award with Andy Boyle, Daryl Horgan and Richie Towell recognised for their contribution to the club’s league and cup double winning campaign.
