Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny says that it is “crazy” that his side face a second away game in just 48 hours tonight.
Fresh from Saturday’s dramatic injury-time defeat of ten-man Sligo Rovers, the Lilywhites face Shamrock Rovers in their Setanta Sports Cup semi-final first leg at the Tallaght Stadium (kick-off 8pm).
Kenny says it’s a tough ask. “It is crazy situation that we have got to go on the road again, but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to prepare properly because it is a big opportunity.
“It is a difficult task home and away over the two legs against Shamrock Rovers. They have started the season very well and we will have to be at our best to beat them.”
Dundalk were not at their best, but stole the three points in injury-time when Dane Massey directed the ball over the line to earn all three points against a luckless Sligo Rovers. The home side had former Dundalk player Ross Gaynor sent-off after just 10 minutes, but nullified the threat of the visitors for 80 minutes before Massey’s late finish.
