Having narrowly failed to clinch the title by beating the reigning champions at Turner’s Cross last week, Cork City could be handed it this evening with anything less than a win for Dundalk at Ballybofey finally resolving matters at the top of the table.
Finn Harps will certainly be up for doing John Caulfield and his players a favour with the Donegal men in relegation trouble and anything out of this game would be a significant bonus on a day when all of the teams in the bottom half of the table are playing.
Conor Clifford is suspended for the visitors while John Mountney, Chris Shields, Dane Massey and Steven Kinsella are all ruled out through injury.
But the hosts have problems too with Packie Mailey ruled out while Ethan Boyle, Sean Houston and Paddy McCourt are all considered to be doubts.
Ollie Horgan does have Kilian Cantwell back from suspension while Ciaran Coll has recovered from an illness.
Galway have a full squad for the trip to Bray as do Limerick who head to Richmond Park. St Patrick’s Athletic are looking to make it five home league wins on the trot and they could do with the points as their away form has been such that they are far from out trouble as things stand. Gavin Peers is back from suspension.
Sligo, meanwhile, will be without goalkeeper Michael Schlingermann for their remaining games due to a neck injury while Jamie McDonagh is unavailable for the visit of Bohemians as he is away on international duty. Gary Boylan (foot) is a doubt but Craig Roddan returns.
Drogheda United boss Pete Mahon has admitted he made mistakes over the course of the campaign and that he must shoulder the blame for the club’s relegation. Drogheda are without Stephen Dunne, Jake Hyland, Chris Mulhall and Thomas Byrne for the visit of Shamrock Rovers while Trevor Clarke is one of several doubts for the Hoops.
