Republic of Ireland women’s national team head coach Sue Ronan has named a squad of 21 players for the upcoming EURO2017 qualifiers away to Finland on June 3rd followed by the visit of Montenegro to Tallaght Stadium four days later, with Ronan aiming to take six points from the two games.
“We are at the stage in the group where we can’t afford any more slip-ups, so maximum points from these two games is the target,” said Ronan.
The club form of players in the squad has been encouraging in the lead up to the players congregating in Dublin. As well as Karen Duggan being named Continental WNL player of the year, Aine O’Gorman claimed the golden boot and Meabh De Burca made the team of the season.
In England, Niamh Fahey was also named in the team of the season, while Emma Byrne and Katie McCabe were part of Arsenal Ladies’ squad that won the FA Cup.
