Take a look at the new MacBook Air. Freshly announced by Apple at the opening of Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, it is not only the first to include the new M2 chip, it is also the first redesign of the device in some years. Gone is the tapered shape we had come to know, and in its place is something more similar to the rest of the MacBook line-up. It is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and the screen has been made bigger – 13.6 inches versus 13.3 previously – and there are new colours to choose from. Speaking of the screen, it’s Apple’s Liquid Retina display, and the webcam has been bumped up to 1080p, which should handle most video calls better than previous versions. And MagSafe is back for charging, you’ll be pleased to know.
But the star of the show is that M2 chip, which Apple claims to be up to 40 per cent faster than the first generation of Apple-designed silicon when it comes to some tasks such as editing video footage in certain apps.
The new MacBook Air will start shipping next month.
