Healthcare Leading the Way
One sector where this impact is clear is healthcare. EY Ireland was also awarded the Microsoft Ireland Healthcare and Life Sciences Partner of the Year Award, in addition to being commended as a finalist at the global level, with judging influenced by EY’s work with St James’s Hospital on digital transformation within healthcare.
At St James’s Hospital in Dublin (Ireland’s largest public acute teaching hospital and a key partner of Trinity College Dublin), the EY Health and Life Sciences team worked with Microsoft to deliver a groundbreaking digital transformation.
Leveraging advanced AI and cloud technologies, the hospital achieved a seamless transition to Microsoft Azure with minimal downtime and successful project completion, establishing a robust foundation for future innovation.
“Our work with St James’s Hospital shows what’s possible when technology and the power of collaboration and innovation come together. By leveraging AI and cloud responsibly, we’re enabling a digital workforce. This helps healthcare providers deliver better outcomes for patients while improving efficiency across the system. This wasn’t just a technical upgrade; it was a step toward smarter healthcare,” said Paul Browne, EY Ireland partner and Cloud leader.
“Operating securely within Microsoft’s cloud, EY’s AI-powered Clinical Coding Assistan uses advanced language models to analyse clinical notes and recommend accurate medical codes. This innovation is a clear example of responsible AI delivering tangible, practical benefits”.
From Hospitals to Boardrooms
The transformation isn’t limited to healthcare. Irish enterprises across sectors are embracing AI to boost productivity and competitiveness.
A leading Irish plc in the taste and nutrition sector recently partnered with EY to implement Microsoft 365 Copilot, revolutionising how its teams work. Starting with a pilot, EY helped scale Copilot to a 2,000-user global roll-out across Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
Through a people-first adoption strategy, EY facilitated this transformation by establishing a Champion Network, hosting innovation sessions, and delivering comprehensive training.
These initiatives empowered employees to embrace AI tools like M365 Copilot confidently, boosting productivity and engagement. Ongoing support ensured users could adapt to updates seamlessly, fostering sustained innovation and competitiveness.
As EY and Microsoft continue to collaborate, the focus remains on pioneering innovations that enhance operational efficiency and contribute to sustainable growth.
Together, they are enabling Irish enterprises to responsibly embrace AI, data, and cloud technologies, driving measurable business value, accelerating digital transformation, and strengthening Ireland’s economy.
The 2025 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards were announced in advance of Microsoft Ignite, which takes place in San Francisco from November 18-21.
