Duggan Brothers has been named the overall winner at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2025, held at the Convention Centre Dublin, after its transformative work on a new medical residential treatment facility for Dublin Simon Community secured the contractor project category award.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Colm O’Regan, brought together 820 attendees from across Ireland’s construction sector to celebrate excellence and innovation.
A total of 180 entries from 104 companies competed for 32 trophies, with attendance at this year’s event increasing by 51% compared to 2024.
Established in 1923 by brothers William and James Duggan, Duggan Brothers is a renowned national contracting business with a turnover exceeding €100m.

Now led by David and Seamus Duggan, the company has built its reputation delivering landmark projects across Ireland.
The winning project, located on Usher’s Island in Dublin city centre, provides 100 beds and specialised medical and recovery services for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The six-storey extension features modern amenities, including gyms, counselling and meeting rooms, and semi-acute medical spaces designed to support detoxification, rehabilitation, and care for blood-borne viruses.
In their award citation, the judging panel said: “We were deeply impressed by this entrant’s delivery of a project with such vital social impact. Through exceptional expertise, collaboration, and innovation, they brought to life a state-of-the-art medical residential treatment facility that will serve the community for years to come. Their commitment to quality and care sets a benchmark in construction excellence and demonstrates the power of building with purpose.”
A Duggan Brothers spokesperson commented: “This recognition celebrates what can be achieved when teams unite behind a common purpose – creating spaces that truly change lives.”
In addition to the company’s overall victory, Pat O’Neill, project manager at Duggan Brothers, was named construction project manager of the year.
Other award winners on the night included McCabe Group, RKD, Reddy A+U, Strata, Mulcahy McDonagh, Arcadis, BAM, Shareridge, Kilcawley Construction, Vision Contracting, Mitchell McDermott, O’Carroll Engineering, and Sisk.
Since launching in 2014, the Irish Construction Industry Awards have been a beacon for recognising, encouraging, and celebrating originality and innovation in contractors, businesses, teams, consultants, and projects that demonstrate excellence in the built environment.
Barry McAuley, one of the judging coordinators, said that the awards continue to highlight significant transformation within the sector, showcasing key trends in sustainability, digital innovation, and health and safety.
“Overall, these awards bring attention to an industry that is increasingly client-centric, technologically forward-thinking, and dedicated to delivering exceptional, sustainable outcomes across residential, healthcare, educational, and infrastructure projects,” he added.
“The awards continue to inspire continuous improvement through the showcasing of best practices and outstanding professionals driving progress in Ireland’s built environment.”
Cathal McKeever, director at awards sponsor Breagh Recruitment, described the awards event as a fantastic evening celebrating the best of Irish construction.

Among the award winners, Fergal Meagher, managing director at Kilcawley Construction, said a huge effort by the firm’s project team delivered the Kilsaran headquarters projects in advance of schedule and to an extremely high standard.
He praised project partners ABK Architects, supported by Punch Engineering, as well as IN2, McCullagh Lupton Quinn and fire consultants Jensen Hughes.
“Thanks to all our supply chain and subcontractor partners for delivering this wonderful project,” he stated.
Phil Kelly, COO at H&MV Engineering, said the firm was honoured to receive the innovation in construction award for its Performance Hub. He described the facility as “a breakthrough that’s transforming how we manage data, reporting, and collaboration, driving greater accuracy, efficiency, and proactive decision-making across every part of H & MV.”
On winning the contractor of the year award, Paul McNamara, CEO at Shareridge, commented: “This is a proud moment that celebrates our people, their skill, integrity, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Together, we’re shaping the future of construction through innovation, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to our clients and communities.”
Among the finalists, Sinead Ni Dhomhnaill, PR and marketing at Buildcost said the awards event was a fantastic evening celebrating excellence in the sector. “We’re proud to be part of such an inspiring industry and commend everyone driving innovation and success across construction,” she added.
Pierce O’Reilly, communications manager at Source Civil stated: “We don’t get too many opportunities to go from work boots to black ties, and the Irish Construction Industry Awards certainly put our work on a pedestal for everyone in the industry to see.”
Alan Byrne, director at Fire Containment remarked: “It was our first time at the awards, and although we didn’t win, we were honoured to be among such outstanding talent. A brilliant night for Fire Containment and the industry.”
