Irish customer communications platform Mail Metrics has announced the acquisition of peer company Dafil.

The group, which was founded in 2013, said the acquisition marked “another significant milestone” for it, bringing its total number of employees from 110 up to 151, as well as expanding its customer base of companies.

Mail Metrics’s revenue numbers have gone from €1 million in 2019 to a projected €40 million by the end of 2023. It did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition.

Mail Metrics chief executive Nick Keegan said: “Jean Maher and the team at Dafil have built an incredible business with a strong reputation in the marketplace and we’re delighted to be welcoming them into the Mail Metrics Group.

“Dafil has a reputation for delivering high-quality service consistently over four decades. We’re looking forward to working closely with our new colleagues as we seek to integrate the two businesses.”

He said Mail Metrics has experienced “consistently strong organic growth” of 40 per cent year-on-year.

“However, supplementing this with strategic acquisitions remains a key pillar of our growth strategy,” he added. “This transaction is another milestone for us as we build out our acquisition function.”

Mail Metrics works with firms in industries where the emergence of digital channels, greater compliance demands and increasing costs to serve are changing how these large entities approach the management of their customer communications.

It handles millions of business critical, regulatory and customer communications each year, ranging from renewal notices, claims correspondence and billing information, to general transactional customer communications.

Mr Maher said he would remain at the company in the coming months as the transition process takes place.

“To deliver the next chapter in Dafil’s journey and to allow me to move to the next phase in my life, Nick Keegan and the team at Mail Metrics will be taking over the reins at Dafil to lead the company through its next phase of growth,” he said.

“I will still have a presence and a role to play in the company over the coming months as we begin to integrate our two companies together.

“Dafil believe that by joining our two businesses together, both companies will benefit from the strengths and synergies available to develop a complete closed loop for customer communications.”
