SEVENTY JOBS have been created in Ireland’s burgeoning “cloud computing” sector following an announcement by Service Source that it is to expand its operation at Sandyford in Dublin.
Service Sources, which provides cloud computing services to the high-tech, healthcare and life science sectors, is to immediately begin recruiting for the “highly skilled” positions at its European, Middle-East and Asian (EMEA) headquarters.
The expansion is being supported by Government investment agency IDA Ireland.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe described the jobs announcement as “a strong signal that confidence is returning to the economy and major investors are now planning for the recovery”.
Service Source, which has clients including Microsoft, Adobe, GE Healthcare, ATT and Symantec, established its EMEA headquarters in Dublin in 2005, when it initially planned to recruit 110 workers.
Since then, its business has grown, with the latest expansion bringing its Irish workforce to 380.
The company moved its EMEA headquarters from Cherrywood to Sandyford last year.
IDA chief executive Barry O’Leary welcomed the announcement, describing the company as “a significant multinational”.
Service Source, which has its global headquarters in San Francisco, describes itself as a “service revenue performance company”.
Many of its client support, human resources, training, IT and operations services are based on cloud computing, whereby the services are provided to companies by internet. It has $5 billion (€3.8 billion) in revenue under its management.
