Ever notice the black-and-white cow patterns that mark Gateway 2000's packaging and adverts from the herd? They may be a thing of the past. The image is linked to the company's rural roots though it does have a massive European operation in Dublin, its headquarters are in the pastures of North Sioux City, South Dakota. Its top executives, including chief executive and former South Dakota enthusiast Ted Waitt, are headed to new offices in San Diego. Gateway has also admitted it is a lot easier to attract workers to California than rural America.
