Clifford Cocks tells The Science of Secrecy (Sunday, Channel 4, 6.45 p.m.) how in the 1970s he found the holy grail of modern cryptography which is now used to protect information on the Internet. Mr Cocks's work had implications for military communications so he was forbidden from telling anyone outside the British GCHQ about his discovery which he worked out in his head in half an hour before dinner.

Channel 4 is cashing in on the stress-busting trend with its Stop, Go Home, season and is kicking off with Stressed Out (Sunday, 7.45 p.m.). This is followed on Monday at 9 p.m., with Equinox: The Science of Stress.

Leargas (Tuesday, 7 p.m., RTE1) asks who will benefit when the Republic's latest gas find comes ashore in Mayo. The region will enjoy a boon of 500 construction jobs and about 40 long-term jobs but there will be consequences for the environment. The programme spent a week in the area to assess the impact.

Marks & Spencer once ruled the high street. Now customers have deserted, profits have plunged and this once-mighty retailer could become a take-over target. The Money Programme (Wednesday, 7.30 p.m., BBC2) interviews bosses, managers and shop-floor workers to get the story of the rise and fall.

The guys in the International Financial Services Centre get a make-over for dress-down, suit-free Fridays on Off The Rails (Wednesday, 8.30 p.m., RTE1).
