Construction output rises 11.5 per cent in fourth quarter

CSO says increase reflects 14.1 per cent rise in residential building work

The volume of output in building and construction increased 11.5 per cent year on year in the fourth quarter, according to the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO said the increase reflected a year-on-year increase of 34.8 per cent in non-residential building work, and a 14.1 per cent in residential building work.

While, there was no change in the volume of output in building and construction in the fourth quarter of 2013 when compared with the preceding period, output increased by 11.5 per cent year on year.

Output in civil engineering fell by 1.1 per cent over the same period.
