Newly rebranded telecommunications company Eir is planning to offload part of its mainly provincial property portfolio.
Twelve properties with an overall area of 13.44 hectares are to be offered for sale through agents BNP Paribas Real Estate at a combined value of about €5.8 million.
Eir's chief financial officer Huib Costermans said the company had an extensive and valuable property portfolio that included sites in Dublin and a number of regional cities and towns which were surplus to requirements.
The decision, he said, followed a strategic review and came at a time when the demand for commercial property was very strong.

of BNP said they were expecting significant interest in the portfolio mainly from investors and developers due to the pent-up demand for development opportunities.
The properties, which will be sold in one or more lots, are at Dún Laoghaire in Dublin; Whitemills, Co Wexford; Youghal, Bandon and Ballintemple, Co Cork; Dingle, Co Kerry; Clonmel and Thurles, Co Tipperary; Blyry in Athlone; Castlerea, Co Roscommon; Letterkenny, Co Donegal and Dundalk, Co Louth.
