RetailingThe Blanchardstown Centre is continuing to attract high numbers of shoppers as well as new tenants, with five new retailers moving to the west Dublin centre
Five new retailers will be moving into the Blanchardstown Centre in west Dublin as it continues to attract ever high numbers of shoppers.
Eoin Feeney of letting agents HWBC said they were continuously striving to enhance the tenant mix to cater for more than 300,000 shoppers who visit Blanchardstown each week. Jones Lang LaSalle are joint agents.
The new traders will be the UK sports retailer JD Sports, Newbridge Silverware, Bohemian Bijou, an Irish-owned fashion accessories company, Swatch, the Swiss watch retailer and Butlers Chocolate Cafe.
JD Sports will be paying a rent of €500,000 for a shop of 400sq m (4,306sq ft) in the Red Mall extension beside Marks & Spencer. It will be the company's third outlet in Ireland and will bring its overall representation to over 400 shops.
The decision by Newbridge Silverware to open in Blanchardstown may well encourage this progressive company to move on to the high streets. It will be paying a rent of €115,000 for a unit of 40sq m(431sq ft) on level two, adjoining Debenhams department store.
Another Irish owned company, Butlers Chocolate Cafe, is moving into a store of 70sq m (754sq ft) on the Red Mall which will cost them in the region of €160,000 per annum in rent. It will be their tenth outlet; other high profile stores are at Dublin Airport, Dundrum Town Centre and Grafton Street.
Both Bohemian Bijou and Swatch are likely to be paying around €75,000 per annum for small units of around 15sq m (162sq ft). It will be the fourth outlet to be opened by the fashion accessories chain and Swatch's first Irish store.
In another major shakeup at Blanchardstown, River Island is preparing to unveil its enlarged store on May 25th. The company's floor space is being increased from 600-1,400sq m (6458-15,070sq ft), making it one of the centre's flagship stores.
Other new tenants trading at the west Dublin complex include 53 Degrees North, Lifestyle Sports, Home Store & More and a new 5,000sq m (53,820sq ft) store for TK Maxx, their largest outlet in the UK or Ireland.
