ONE OF A small number of lanbanks still available in the Clontarf area of north Dublin is to be offered for sale at auction on July 27th.

Campion estate agents is quoting a guide price of €840,000 for a site with planning permission for 14 terraced houses at the rear of Dollymount Avenue. The price works out at €60,000 per unit.

The architectural intent is to create a terrace of buildings, a new streetscape which responds to the overall site in terms of orientation, light and views, according to Tadhg Campion.

He said the 168sq m (1,808sq ft), three-storey houses would reflect the more traditional brick terraces of family homes in Clontarf.

Residents will have clear views of Dollymount Strand and Dublin Bay.

The site is bounded by a line of mature trees and faces north towards Manresa Retreat House. St Anne’s Park is a short walk away.

The land originally formed part of an estate belonging to the Vernons, a landowning family prominent in the area for over 300 years.

Much of the land was leased to a John George Oulton who divided it into a series of allotments. For a long time the Dollymount site produced fruit, vegetables and flowers.
