Slowing US economic growth and decelerating corporate earnings appeared yesterday to have stopped the dollar's long bull run against the euro.

The euro rose a cent against the dollar to around $0.87 as the European Central Bank decided against a change in interest rates, taking its gains since the start of the week to three cents.
