Dublin power plant gets access to grid

The electricity regulator has directed the ESB to offer access to the national grid to all power projects

The electricity regulator has directed the ESB to offer access to the national grid to all power projects. The effect of the direction issued yesterday by Mr Tom Reeves will be to give access to the grid to a third new power plant in Dublin.

However, the operator of the grid, EirGrid, warned last year that constraints on the system in Dublin meant that the addition of a third plant could push power prices upwards.
